morrison on the park
Morrison on the Park is managed by Morrison House Inc. and is a not for profit organisation. Any surpluses generated from the business is given back to the community in the way of programs and projects such as the Community Link or the Exhibition Space, so supporting your local cafe means you are supporting your community!
We were fortunate in 2004 to obtain funding from the Shire of Yarra Ranges and the Department of Adult and Community Education to construct the cafe building onto the back of the Mt Evelyn Library in Wray Crescent. The Morrison House Committee of Management paid for the fit-out and equipment.
The cafe has quickly become a meeting place for many - a catch up with friends for lunch, to celebrate a birthday or meet a business collegue for coffee. Our wonderful deck overlooking the Warburton Trail is a delightful spot for a glass of wine and a Morrison Platter. Life doesn't get much better than that!
We have a very loyal and hardworking staff. We were fortunate to secure the services of our Chef and Manager David Dickie in late 2004. David brings a wealth of experience to the role and is ably supported by Karen Gallagher who is the staff supervisor and fucntion co-ordinator. Our other fantastic staff members include Kaitlin, Maureen (who has been with us since the beginning), Cath, Ingrid, Jenelle, Sam, Clinton, Michelle, Kristy and Ilana.
Morrison House has a long history of working with and training volunteers (in fact, the majority of our staff started as Morrison House volunteers!) and we welcome their input at the cafe. It is a great way to get a foot in the door and learn all the skills required to get employment in the industry. Learn how to make coffee, take orders, pour drinks, clear tables etc.
Morrison on the Park has been an outstanding success, giving Mt Evelyn a much needed meeting place and outlet for delicious, reasonably priced meals and snacks. See you there!
